Results Acheived

The fact that you’re here means you want to know what it’s like to work with Monkswood Associates.  In this section we’ll tell you the kind of results our clients have reported.  We’ll also give you a sense of what guides our approach to client projects and how we’re different.

At the end of the day you want to know that you can trust us to help you accomplish the changes you want in a way that suits you.

Results you can expect

Our overall commitment is to ensure you find the solution that works for you.  May be you’ll achieve these kinds of results in the days and weeks ahead:

  • Rediscover your enjoyment and enthusiasm for what you do.  You’ll find your energy is flowing and you’ll know what to do and how to do it.  Your renewed energy allows you to meet challenges with confidence.  Because of your vitality, people who work with you will also be energised and willing.  You get things done with energy - and may be even time - to spare.
  • You’ll know not only what’s expected of you but also what direction to take You will move forward confidently.  Making decisions and taking the next step become natural to you.

As one of my brothers reminded me, “If you are cycling along a path and come to a part-open gate you can quickly see if the gap is wide enough.  If you concentrate on the gap, you will pass through.  If you look from one side to the other you will wobble and may miss the gap!”

The principle applies in many cases - aim for where you want to go not for what you wish to avoid.

  • You’ll transform from feeling uncertain and hesitant to experiencing grounded confidence and robustness in the key situations you face.  You will smile and notice the constructive aspects in what you have to handle.  You know that you will come out well, even those times when you don’t know what to do at first.  Your certainty supports others through their uncertainty.
  • You’ll gain insight into yourself and how to make the most of yourself in most situations.  You will appreciate not only what you have to offer, but also how best to offer it.  Further, you will appreciate the possible knock-on effects.  You will develop the facility to understand other people.  You’ll learn the keys to communicating successfully.  You’ll enjoy yourself and the positive results you achieve.

Mini examples cases

Case 1:  A senior manager’s negativity caused people to avoid him: by increasing his awareness about what impact this had on others and himself, and giving him greater choice of responses, he now is invited to contribute his experience and ideas, adding value to the decision-making process.

Case 2: A satellite office general manager was not meeting her director’s expectations: by expanding her outlook on management and leadership, she became more proactive, communicative and inclusive in her way of working, bringing out the talents of her team and harnessing what the director had to offer.  All worked to greater effect and satisfaction.

Case 3: A manager newly appointed to director needing clarity about role and behaviour expectations: through discussion and stepped practice, she gained strong skills and self-assurance in her abilities to succeed as a director - and Managing Directors now find her a valuable member of their management teams.

And here are our guiding principles on which our approach is based

Studies of successful organisations have indicated that values and ethics play an important role in organisational effectiveness.

Monkswood Associates has developed its approach that pulls together its knowledge about and experience in human resources and people development.  It recognises that when product values, organisational culture and employee values are in alignment with each other, the business works cohesively, using all the available energy towards the organisation’s goals to great effect.

So our guiding principles are:

  • Having a positive mindset.  You are significantly more likely to achieve an objective said in the positive than if it is stated negatively or if you say ‘try’.  So rather than “I’ll try not to be late” say “I will arrive on time”.  Yes, occasionally we all slip into less positive thinking.  What matters is we catch it and turn it around.  Problems do exist – what we focus on is what the situation would look/sound/feel like when a productive solution has been found.
  • Enjoying work.  This has great significance.  There’s lots of evidence that shows that staff, who enjoy their work, are more productive and the organisation is more successful.  This includes us finding working together satisfying and overall enjoyable.  Well, there will be difficult bits as any change brings with it some discomfort!
  • Being respectful and respected.  So many aspects are covered by respect and a significant number relate to differences – respecting, appreciating, acknowledging and working with difference, to name a few.  Treating people as adults also is key to respect.
  • Being open, honest and straight makes everyone’s lives easier.  We will tell you how we see it.  If we believe someone else will supply you a better result, or that a particular intervention is likely to achieve little, we will say.  This can be difficult.  Admitting mistakes, or feeling vulnerable or needing support, can be difficult to acknowledge to yourself let alone other people.
  • Practicality is of prime importance.  Facing and working with reality increases your chance of finding a practical solution.  What comes out of our work together must impact positively on the issue you had in the first place.  It needs to be more than having an interesting discussion.

What makes me different from many other coaches working in the corporate world is focusing on energy and enthusiasm - and how best to release and use them.  Furthermore, I have valuable experience in a variety of business sectors and different sized organisations.  And I keep the whole system in the picture!

Consistently I have gained positive feedback like “I felt safe so that I could be honest about things I usually find difficult to admit” and “I tried things out that normally I would not have done.  I knew it was OK whether or not I ‘succeeded’.”  Their openness and experimentation enabled them to find, value and use their own assets to best effect.  As the individual’s performance and enjoyment increases, so do they for the other teams/groups to which the individual belongs.
